Retatrutide Regulatory Status in India
What the official record shows, what it does not show, and how to check it yourself.
As of 24 October 2026, no marketing approval for retatrutide in India could be located in any primary regulatory record. Retatrutide holds no marketing approval in any country.
India does host authorised retatrutide clinical trial sites. We verified Indian investigational sites in five separate studies from the public trial register.
These two facts are not in conflict, and the distinction between them is the single most important thing on this page. A clinical trial authorisation permits research under an approved protocol. A marketing approval permits sale. Only the second makes a medicine available to the public, and retatrutide does not have it.
Trial authorisation is not marketing approval
These are separate decisions, made at different times, answering different questions. Conflating them is the most common error in online claims about retatrutide in India.
| Clinical trial authorisation | Marketing approval | |
|---|---|---|
| Question answered | May this molecule be studied in people here, under this protocol? | May this product be sold here for this medical use? |
| Who may receive it | Only enrolled participants who meet the protocol's eligibility criteria | Patients, via the regulated supply chain |
| Oversight | Protocol, ethics committee approval, investigator supervision, monitoring | Approved product labelling, pharmacovigilance, prescribing rules |
| Retatrutide in India | Verified present | No record located |
Verified: retatrutide trial sites in India
We queried the ClinicalTrials.gov API for all 33 registered retatrutide studies and examined the location records of each. Five list Indian investigational sites.

|---|---|---|---|
| TRIUMPH-1 Phase 3 | NCT05929066 | 14 | Completed |
| TRIUMPH-2 Phase 3 | NCT05929079 | 14 | Completed |

Cities named across these records include Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guntur, Hubli, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mohali, Mumbai, Mysore, Nagpur, New Delhi, Pune, Raipur, Rishikesh, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Vellore and Wardha.
This is not a recruitment listing
We list these studies because they document retatrutide's regulatory presence in India. We are not affiliated with any of them, cannot refer anyone to a site, and cannot assist with enrolment. Several are completed or closed to recruitment. Anyone considering trial participation should discuss it with their own doctor and consult the registry record directly.
Not verified: marketing approval
We searched for a primary CDSCO record showing marketing approval of retatrutide in India and found none. We also found no Eli Lilly announcement of an Indian regulatory filing.
How to read a negative finding
We did not locate a record. That is a statement about our search, not a legal determination. It is consistent with retatrutide having no approval anywhere in the world, which its developer has stated directly. But the correct conclusion is “no approval record could be confirmed”, not “approval has been formally refused” — those are different things, and we will not convert the absence of a search result into the second.
Secondary reporting we found, and how we treat it
Indian pharmaceutical trade press reported during 2024 and 2025 that CDSCO's Subject Expert Committee recommended approval for a Phase III retatrutide protocol, with a condition that the principal investigator be a cardiologist and the co-principal investigator a nephrologist, and later recommended approval of a protocol amendment.
Secondary source We label this as trade reporting rather than a primary regulatory document, because we were not able to retrieve the underlying committee minutes. It is consistent with the cardiovascular and kidney outcomes protocol (TRIUMPH-Outcomes), which has 19 Indian sites. It concerns a trial protocol, not marketing approval.
How to verify this yourself
Regulatory status changes. Rather than relying on this page indefinitely, here is how to check the position directly.
- CDSCO — the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation is India's national regulator for new drugs and clinical trials. cdsco.gov.in. Look for new drug approvals and Subject Expert Committee recommendations.
- CTRI — the Clinical Trials Registry – India records trials conducted in India. ctri.nic.in.
- ClinicalTrials.gov — search the molecule name and open the “Contacts and Locations” section of any record. clinicaltrials.gov.
- Eli Lilly — regulatory filings are normally announced by the developer. investor.lilly.com.
On buying retatrutide in India
Searches such as “retatrutide price in India”, “retatrutide buy” and marketplace listings are common. The honest answer is uncomfortable but simple:
- There is no approved retatrutide product in India or anywhere else.
- There is therefore no regulated supply chain and no legitimate price.
- Material advertised online — including items labelled “research use only” or “not for human consumption” — has not been assessed by any regulator. Its identity, purity, concentration, sterility and contents are unverified.
- A “certificate of analysis” supplied by a seller is not independent verification.
This site does not sell, source, broker or recommend any product, publishes no dosing or administration guidance, and cannot help anyone obtain the molecule.
